This 1978 Ferrari 308 GTS was purchased by the current owner in 1987 from a local dealership with 17,229 miles. It has remained in the northern part of California’s Central Valley since and now shows 59,419 miles. Finished in Fly Yellow from the factory, the car is powered by a carbureted 2.9L V8 paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The engine has been updated with an MSD ignition and received a new timing belt, auxiliary belt, and water pump in October 2016. Over 50 pages of service records dating back to 1987 come with the car, and the original targa top cover, owner’s manuals, tools, tool pouch, jack, and storage bag are also included. This Ferrari 308 is now offered on behalf of the current owner by a family friend with a clean California title.Fly Yellow is the original color, though the seller notes that the front fenders, hood, and passenger-rear lower splash panel have been repainted. The finish is said to show a good color match on the repainted panels, as well as rock chips from use along with some cracking on the rear hatch area, most notably on the small engine cover.

The black targa top and factory cover are shown up close in the gallery below, and the seller notes that the power antenna is non-functional. The 14×7.5″ Cromodora wheels have minor curb rash, and the older Toyo Spectrum tires should likely be replaced despite showing good tread depth. The factory seats have been refurbished with new leather covers, though the rest of the interior is said to be original. Black and gold prancing horse floor mats can be seen in the image above, and the A/C remains installed but is not currently functional.

The three spoke steering wheel is complimented by a chrome steel shift gate, which shows minor scratching consistent with age. Various electronic issues have been noted by the seller, including a radio that will power on but will not produce sound, an inaccurate tachometer, and a clock that is in need of repair. The odometer shows 59,419 miles, over 42k of which have been added by the current owner.Power comes from a 2.9L V8 featuring four Weber 40DCNF carburetors along with an aftermarket MSD ignition unit. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual, and the car is said to be a strong driver. A new timing belt, auxiliary belt, and water pump were installed in October 2016, and over 50 pages of service records dating back to 1987 are included in the sale.

Various undercarriage photos have been provided displaying the condition of the chassis and various suspension components. Maintenance records from the current owner are included in the sale along with the original targa top cover, owners manuals with case, tools, tool pouch, jack, and storage bag as seen in the gallery.

At time of writing the bidding was up to $48,250.
