The Circuit of the Americas, in Austin, Texas, played host to the debut of the most stunning Ferrari track hypercar. The amazing Ferrari FXX-K Evo, first seen at its unveiling last October, joined many other Ferrari’s during the North American Challenge Series weekend, and stole the show.
Three examples of this quite spectacular car were presented to proud owners at the event, who were then given a full insight into what the car is capable of before taking to the track with a professional instructor providing them with guidance.
The original FXX, based on the LaFerrari road car, is a very capable beast, but the new FXX-K Evo takes things a few steps further. Featuring revised and improved bodywork that provides a claimed 23% more downforce, this is a machine to match any from rival manufacturers.
The car retains the mighty 6.3litre V12 engine from the original FXX, a hybrid engine giving a reputed 1050bhp in standard form, but those in the FXX-K Evo are tuned to deliver a handy amount of extra horses – the precise number being a closely guarded secret.
The original batch of 40 Ferrari FXX models sold out very quickly, and owners of those much sought-after cars can pay to have the Evo upgrade added to their car. The price of this conversion is also not public knowledge, so if you have to ask, you can’t afford it!
The popularity of hypercars for the track continues to rise, and this sort of vehicle is now seen as a blue-chip investment by collectors. If you want to catch a glimpse of the new Ferrari FXX-K Evo, take a trip to Laguna Seca in May for the next round of the Challenge, and hope that one of the owners decides to make the trip.
