PAGANI ZONDA REVOLUCIÓN – VIVA LA REVOLUCIÓN!
Pagani introduced its Zonda Revolución in 2013 as the final statement on the venerable Zonda R platform. Of course, you know what that means. This car not only featured advanced technology that makes it even more insane than the R, but it also came with an equally-mad price tag. Yes, everything about this limited-production supercar is fascinating, including the fact that it actually debuted after the Huayra had started selling. Few models could stoke interest after their successor was on the market, but, again, nothing is normal when it comes to Pagani, and the Italian company had no problem selling every last one of these cars.
EXTREME IN EVERY WAY
The Zonda R’s 6.0-litre Mercedes V12, tuned to produce 789 bhp (588 kW) and 540 lb-ft (730 Nm) of torque, was carried over unchanged. As was the carbon-titanium blend monocoque chassis that allows both the R and the Revolución to boast of an astounding 1,070-kg (2,359-lb) dry weight. Okay, on to the new stuff. Lighter carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes offered a 15% weight reduction compared to the “standard” (okay, so nothing is “standard” about any Zonda, but you know what I mean) Zonda R’s brakes. They also give the Zonda Revolución longer brake life by up to 4 times, thanks to lower operating temperatures during extreme use.
Also improved was the rear wing, which featured a fancy Drag Reduction System (DRS) that offers two operating modes. In manual mode, the driver can adjust the wing to his or her preference at speeds above 62 mph, while the automatic mode uses Pagani’s own algorithm to optimize performance. I don’t know about you, but I would trust Pagani’s engineers over myself every day.
PRODUCTION AND COST – ALSO EXTREME
As you would expect from such a car, Pagani built very few Zonda Revolucións, keeping them suitably rare for their customers. And, even with their €2.2 million ($2.9 million) price tags, I am sure those customers are able to enjoy wonderful appreciation should they ever decide to sell their masterpieces of Italian supercar engineering.
