The Ultimate Guide to the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SuperVeloce
LAMBORGHINI AVENTADOR LP 750-4 SUPERVELOCE – NOT QUITE AN SVJ, BUT DOES THAT MATTER
While the subsequent SVJ stole much of the high-performance glory, the Aventador LP 750-4 SuperVeloce (Aventador SV for short) shouldn’t be short-changed. Heaps of performance upgrades were thrown into the SV mixture, making this 2015 model just as good as the SVJ in many regards. Take the 2.8-second sprint to 62 mph. Or the top speed that is simply reported at as somewhere north of 217 mph. Okay, so it can’t quite match the SVJ’s outrageous track performance, but honestly, after studying those staggering performance specs, could any Aventador SV owner ever feel the need to upgrade?
BUILDING THE AVENTADOR SV
Featuring a 50-bhp bump in power (for a total of 740) over the standard Aventador, the SV promised better performance from the get-go. Of course, Lambo engineers didn’t just stop after addressing the power problem. For starters, the steering has been improved, mainly with the goal of enhanced high-speed manoeuvrability. Next, by throwing in oodles of carbon fibre, the SuperVeloce also offers a 50-kg weight loss. Lastly, a host of aerodynamic improvements such as a new front splitter and huge rear wing.

Of course, all of that laser-like focus on handling has its downsides. Reportedly, the Aventador SV has a rather harsh ride. Let’s just say this isn’t a great vehicle for driving grandma to her hair appointment. Another demerit that is commonly cited is the transmission. This single-clutch unit simply cannot keep up with the faster-shifting dual-clutch gearboxes used by the competition.
PRODUCTION
On sale between 2015 and 2017, the Aventador SV sold for £315,000 ($494,000 in the States). All told, 600 SVs were sold, with the final example being sold in Edinburgh. And, while it will never be remembered as the ultimate Aventador, the SV is a great option for anyone interested in world-class performance and saving £56,000 over the price of an SVJ.
