Ferrari Monza SP1 in the Rain in Kuwait

Think of Kuwait and the last thing you think of is rain! You might, however, think of very expensive, exotic and rare supercars, as this small country is home to some extremely wealthy people.

People who are likely to be buyers of the quite wonderful Ferrari Monza SP1, seen here in the rain – and a lot of rain – being put through its paces. It seems to handle it very well indeed, even if the driver gets a little wet!

The Ferrari Monza SP1 – and its sister roadster the SP2 – is a no-holds barred, out and out special, with no form of roof and very little in the way of weather protection. It’s also effectively a single-seat car, with the SP2 offering the addition of a passenger seat.

Inspired by very early Ferrari’s such as the svelte and beautiful sports-racer that put Ferrari firmly on the map in the early 1950’s, just 499 of these most amazing of all Ferrari’s will be built.

Stunning Performance

The Monza SP1 and SP2, unveiled last autumn, are powered by the awesome 6.5-litre V12 that is usually found at home in the Ferrari 812 Superfast.

This glorious naturally-aspirated engine has been uprated for the Monza duo, with 799bhp on tap and more than adequate torque at 530 lb-ft. Believe us when we say that’s plenty!

This set up, a classic Ferrari configuration, gives the little roadster a top speed of over 186mph (the magical 300km/h mark) and mind-blowing acceleration that will propel you to 62mph (100km/h) in a mere 2.9 seconds.

But, we wouldn’t recommend putting your foot down that hard in the rain, no matter how experienced you are. If you want one, you’re most likely a bit late to get on the waiting list, and a list price of around £1.35million ($1.75million at the time of writing) might be out of your reach.

Nevertheless, we can only applaud Ferrari for building such wonderful cars, and look forward to future retro-inspired specials.
