KOENIGSEGG CCX – A GLOBAL MASTERPIECE

In 2006, the Koenigsegg CCX represented a huge evolutionary jump for the Swedish carmaker. Not only was its performance extraordinary, but now this was truly a global car. Using the same basic structure as all previous CC cars, the CCX was also thoroughly updated to comply with US regulations. This was an important step as the Swedish automaker was now open to another huge market of customers. Koenigsegg was growing up, and the world would be better off for it.

MODERN CARBON

Those familiar with the previous CC models like the CCR and CC8S will find the shape of the CCX very familiar. The whole design is thoroughly modernized, however. While they went about modifying the exterior to comply with US regulations, Koenigsegg went ahead and gave the whole car a much more modern look. Compared to the quite dated 1990s-inspired design of the CCR, the CCX’s Kevlar-reinforced carbon fibre bodywork looks like something that could still be sold today. The dihedral synchro-helix actuation doors were kept the same, making these one of Koenigsegg’s hallmark design features.

CONCLUSION

Expanding their products to a much larger market paid off.  With 49 Koenigsegg CCX models produced from 2006 to 2010, this new model outsold the CCR by nearly 4 to 1. Of course, at over £500,000, those sales would have been impossible if the car wasn’t good enough to justify the price. Luckily for everyone, the car was more than good enough, and Koenigsegg is still creating some of the most awe-inspiring cars in the world to this day.
