While everyone has been focussed on whether Ferrari will next launch an SUV car, what was not expected was a front engine GT car. This is the replacement to the California T and what a car it is. Initial impressions are fantastic and while at launch many people have struggled with a new Ferrari design, it’s hard to find fault. It’s a stunning design and we have to congratulate Ferrari on what should be another fantastic car.

The launch car is in a special colour, Rosso Portofino, named as the car is after the town of Portofino in Italy. It’s a lovely shade of red and no doubt many new owners will opt to order theirs in this colour.

But Ferrari is about the engine, first and foremost. This is not pretty facelift to the California T. It shares the engine with the California, but Ferrari have improved the components and engine management software. As a result, the car has an extra 40cv, now giving 600cv. That combined with a lighter chassis sees the car accelerate to 100km/h in just 3.5 seconds.

We will be giving a much more in-depth review shortly so stay tuned. Official launch will be at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
