Bentley to Celebrate Centenary at Auto Shanghai 2019 Show

As 2019 represents 100 years of Bentley, it is to be expected that the company will be celebrating its centenary throughout. Auto Shanghai 2019 is an appropriate place for Bentley to mark its centenary year, the Chinese market being a very strong one for the iconic and famous brand.

The show will include a Bentley stand that pays homage to the great W.O. Bentley, the company founder, with a selection of stunning models including the all-new Bentley Continental GT and GT Convertible, which will be making their first appearance at this show.

Special Editions Old and New

The Bentley stand will showcase two ‘special edition’ models; the first is the magnificent Mulsanne W.O. Edition by Mulliner, a superbly luxurious take on the Mulsanne which can be specified on any model in that range, and with each will be included a slice of the crankshaft from W.O Bentley’s own personal 8-litre model from 1930.

Indeed, it is this 8-litre car that is the second ‘special edition’ on the stand, and it is this model that inspired the Mulsanne W.O. Edition. Built as the finest Grand Tourer in the world, it has been carefully restored to its original condition, and is a fitting tribute to the great man.

Bentayga Hybrid

Also appearing in Shanghai is the Bentley Bentayga Hybrid, the first luxury hybrid SUV in the world, and making it’s debut in a market where it will undoubtedly be a mainstay of the Bentley range. An advanced electric engine coupled with an efficient new V6 petrol engine give the Bentayga Hybrid more than adequate performance, and it can be driven as electric only for up to 50km and charged in 2.5 hours.

Bentley’s official founding date was July 10th, 1919, and to celebrate this there will be events and activities around the world to mark the occasion throughout the coming year, so keep an eye out for Bentley events near you, and you may get to see some of the most luxurious cars in the world.
