Bentley Wins Accolades at Middle East Car of the Year Awards

As one of the world’s premier luxury brands, Bentley has long had a strong customer base in the Middle East. The Middle East Car of the Year (MECOTY)is a prestigious award that is decided upon by automotive experts and journalists from the region, and the Car of the Year has just been named as the new Bentley Continental GT.

The very epitome of what a luxury Grand Tourer is all about, the Continental GT was launched in the Middle East in 2018, and immediately became one of the most sought-after models in the Bentley range. Sensuous, graceful looks and an improved version of Bentley’s near-legendary 6.0-litre W12 engine give the car astonishing performance and a driving experience like nothing else on the roads.

Saeed Marzouqui, Chairman, Organizing Committee MECOTY, said: “Only a truly exceptional car can take the title of ‘Car of the Year’ and the Bentley Continental GT is a worthy winner. Up against some tough competition, the Continental GT really stood apart from its rivals in terms of performance, refinement and delivering a true ‘wow factor’.

“The purpose of MECOTY is to provide a reliable, unbiased source of information to help consumers make an informed choice when it comes to investing in a new car – our panel of automotive industry experts all agree the Bentley Continental GT is a creditable victor.”

Further Awards

Notably, the Bentley Continental GT also took the Best Luxury Coupe accolade, and it didn’t stop there for the historic British marque. Bentley’s take on the luxury SUV – the stunning Bentayga – was awarded Best Midsize Luxury SUV, and has become another very popular model among Middle East customers.

Regional Director for Bentley Middle East, Africa and India is Stephen Reynolds, and he was notably delighted at the awards:

“This year we are celebrating 100 years of extraordinary engineering and craftmanship as our brand marks its centenary. To be named the Middle East’s Car of the Year during a landmark year for Bentley Motors makes this award even more special.

The Continental GT was launched in the region last year, and since its arrival has been one of our most sought-after models. The Bentayga has always proved a popular choice amongst our customers here in the Middle East, and with the introduction of the Bentayga V8 and the Bentayga Speed to the range we look forward to delivering even more extraordinary driving experiences to our customers in the region.”

The Bentley Bentayga Speed is acknowledged as the fastest SUV in the world, and can reach a top speed of 190mph and accelerate to 62mph in 3.9seconds.
