Friday Drool – Ferrari 599 GTB 60F1 – the Rarest 599?

If you thought the SA ApertaOpens in a new tab. or the GTOOpens in a new tab. was the rarest of the 599s, you’re wrong. And if you think this car is called the 599 Alonso, You’re wrong again. It’s actually called the Ferrari 599 GTB 60F1, and it is quite possibly the rarest of all the standard production 599 models that left the factory. I say standard production because some anorak out there will say “oh what about the one offs…” They always start with a nasally “oh”.

Well Mr Anorak, note this one down. Approximately 40 Ferrari 599 GTB 60F1 made it off the production line, supplied to the international audience of the willing (and wealthy). It’s not uncommon for these cars to be the required pre-purchase cars to allow you to then go on and buy the really desirable cars like the LaFerrari or GTO. They don’t sell those to anybody you know.

Technically the Ferrari 599 GTB 60F1 is not a limited run series, but more of a final run out of the line model. Similar to what Bentley do with the Final Series models, but this car was born to commemorate the 60 years of F1 wins Ferrari have so far enjoyed. It all started in 1951 with Ferrari driver Jose Froilan Gonzales, leading right up to Fernando Alonso. Ironically both were won at Silverstone. Most think it’s a model to celebrate Alonso, while in reality it celebrates all the winners up until that point.

This makes it a very special car, and with special cars come drool-worthy specifications. Most notably is the exterior two-colour spec in red and white. If you are thinking Rosso Corsa, you’re wrong again, as this is a racing spec car so the colour is naturally Rosso Scuderia. The base for the car is the standard 599 GTB with the HGTE handling pack, which includes suspension, shorter springs and stiffer anti-roll bars.

The engine is linked to a six speed F1 transmission, giving a 0-100km/h (60mph) time of 3.7 seconds, accelerating all the way up to 330 km/h (205 mph). That’s damn impressive and helped thanks to a low weight of 1690 kg.

So, we’ve established that this is a pretty impressive and rare car. This beautiful example has come up for sale at Marshall GoldmanOpens in a new tab. in the US and is a stunning low mileage example. Here is what they say about it:
