Monday Drool – Investment or Track Toy, This McLaren is Special

Todays’ drool car, this beautiful McLaren Senna, presents us with a giant dilemma. That’s because this car is at once one of the most exhilarating vehicles on the planet and a huge investment opportunity. After spending a breath-taking amount of money on a car like this, do you immediately take it out and experience everything it has to offer on the track? Or, do you store it away in a temperature-controlled garage, waiting for the day you can capitalize on your investment? Either way, whoever decides to purchase this supercar should wind up more than happy with their decision. Even if you never drive it, there is a lot to enjoy. In fact, I find the Carbon Grey MSO paint to be my absolute favourite colour for the Senna.

Stylistically, the McLaren Senna is all about function over form. Along with other passive and active aero elements, the highly-adjustable rear wing helps the Senna to generate an incredible 1763 pounds of downforce. Luckily for us, the car still wound up quite beautiful in its own right, especially in this colour. Powering this track beast is a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 developing 789 bhp (800 PS) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. Generous use of carbon fibre and other lightweight materials means the Senna tips the scales at an incredible 180 kilos lighter than the P1. Meanwhile, the interior of the car is extremely basic, with most controls relegated to the large central touchscreen. The windows are fixed, except for small openings at the bottom, and don’t even think about trying to bring along any luggage. McLaren has limited production to 500 units; all sold well before this article was published.

This wonderful Senna is being offered by Performance 28 in County Durham. Here is what they say about it on their site:

Carbon Grey MSO Paint, Bowers and Wilkins, Exterior Door upper Gorilla Glass, Door Lower Gorilla Glass, MSO Gold Wheels, MSO Gloss Exterior and Interior Options, Delivery mile car, one keeper, a fantastic investment opportunity.

I don’t know about you, but I certainly hope the car’s first owner views this Senna as an opportunity to experience a transcendent track-driving experience rather than solely as an investment. Regardless, this £999,995 ($1.27 million) vehicle is easy to appreciate from your computer or phone. So, peruse these pictures and enjoy the opportunity to study this automotive masterpiece.
