Limited Edition Lamborghini Sian Sets New Standards

Lamborghini: a brand imbued with a sense of speed, of outrageous ground-breaking design, of pushing the boundaries in automotive technology. Follow the lineage from the stunning, still wonderful today Miura – the car that effectively created the supercar breed – through the astonishing Countach, completely over the top Diablo, and on to the recent Huracan and Aventador, and the theme is there throughout – Lamborghini does things differently.

Of course, we mention only a handful of the many models that have emerged from the Sant’Agata factory since it first began making cars in 1963 – yes, that long ago – and today, we have another to add to the list, and it is something very special indeed. Let us introduce the Lamborghini Sian, the most powerful production Lamborghini of all time.

63 Model Production

The Lamborghini Sian is instantly recognisable thanks to the family design cues: the sharp front nose section, large side air intakes, low, swooping, angular styling – it’s all Lamborghini, and while the car looks the part, it’s what’s underneath the outer skin that really excites us.

Each of the 63 Lamborghini Sian models – the number is in recognition of the year the factory was established – is powered by the classic Lamborghini V12 engine, coupled with a state of the art electric hybrid unit that is unique in using supercapacitor technology and carefully researched materials in its construction that have not been seen before.

Pushing out a very useful 819hp, the Sian – the name means ‘flash’ or ‘lightning’ in local dialect, and is a nod to the electric powerplant – will reach in excess of 350kmh (around 220mph) making it the fastest production Lamborghini in the history of the brand.

Masterpiece in Possibilities

Lamborghini CEO and Chairman, Stefano Domenicali, is a man of eloquence, especially when talking about his company’s products. Regards the Lamborghini Sian, he says:

“The Sián is a masterpiece in possibilities. Not only does the Sián deliver a formidable hyper-car design and engineering tour de force today, it augments the potential for Lamborghini as a super sports car brand for tomorrow and for decades to come, even as hybridization becomes more desirable and inevitably essential. The Lamborghini Sián represents the first step in Lamborghini’s route to electrification, and expedites our next-generation V12 engine. Its Sián moniker, meaning ‘flash or lightning’ in Bolognese dialect, denotes the first electrification of a Lamborghini production car and confirms our strong connection to the territory in which we operate. With the Sián, Automobili Lamborghini demonstrates its dynastic strength as a legendary super sports car brand for the future.”

With electronic regenerative braking, optimised aerodynamics and the usual handling excellence associated with Lamborghini, this is a car that gives us a real glimpse of the future where this iconic and legendary brand is concerned.

Inspired by the Countach

“The fastest Lamborghini must be a visual and symphonic feast, as remarkable to those who see it pass by as those privileged to drive it, “says Mitja Borkert, Head of Design at Automobili Lamborghini. “It takes inspiration from the Countach, but the Sián is a futuristic icon, not retrospective. Exclusivity is enhanced by total Ad Personam personalization that every one of the 63 Sián owners has the privilege of creating, in conjunction with me and the Centro Stile team: 63 individuals worldwide will own not only the fastest, but a unique Lamborghini.”

So there you have it: you can have a personalised Lamborghini Sian, a unique and wonderful hypercar that takes the marque to a different level. Except, you can’t: all 63 have already been sold, presumably to collectors of prized automobiles. Let’s hope at least some of them use their Lamborghini Sian for its intended purpose: to be driven.
