Friday Drool – A Sweet and Spicy Supercar

We have for you today a blend of world-conquering performance and good-natured street manners. If that sounds up your alley, stay with us. McLaren’s first production car since the F1,the MP4-12C was a technological masterwork – no other car in this category had ever come close to combining extreme performance and mild-mannered ride quality the way this McLaren does. On sale now is a spectacular-in-white 2012 example that boasts an impressive history of upkeep, and it just so happens to feature a very reasonable price as well.

This first McLaren of the modern generation features a mid-mounted 3.8-litre V8 that normally pumps out 600 PS, but this specific car boasts even more power than that – the vehicle description tells more about that. The transmission is a Seamless Shift Gearbox, or SSG. This 7-speed unit allows the driver to pre-select gears by lightly tapping the shift paddle, making for lightning-quick gear changes. Holding it all together is a carbon fibre MonoCell that weighs just 80 kg. With so much power and so little weight (just 1300 kg dry), the McLaren MP4-12C’s performance is simply incredible: 0 to 60 in under 3 seconds, with an official top speed of 207 mph. What really astounded the world was the car’s amazingly compliant ride quality, though. Reviewers raved about the car’s all-day comfort, making this the perfect supercar for those who like to keep their spine intact when driving on the road.

This car is currently available at HR Owen. Here is what they say about it:

Stunning 2012 McLaren MP4-12C in Pearl White complemented perfectly by 19inch 5 Spoke Dark Tint Alloy Wheels with Red Brake Calipers. The Two Tone Leather Interior in Arabica and Tan with a Black 3 Spoke Hide Trimmed Steering Wheel is brought together by a Brushed Aluminium Centre Console. This vehicle benefits from the 2013 Model Year Specification Upgrade which includes Upgraded Horsepower to 625PS, McLaren 7 Speed SSG Transmission, Radio Upgrades, Programmable Intake Sound Generator, Bluetooth Telephone, Automatic Headlamps and Rain Detection. In addition, the vehicle also boasts a whole host of McLaren refinements including IRIS Satellite Navigation, Easy-Exit Electric Seats, Meridian Surround Sound, Cruise Control, Voice Control and 2 Zone Climate Control.

That’s a lot of kit included with this £92,000 car – it’s clear that the previous owner was meticulous about keeping this 12C in tip-top shape. Considering the original sticker price was over £168,000, this appears to be a great bargain for anyone who’s ready to pull the trigger, and an available warranty from H.R. Owen sweetens the pot even more. And when you realize that this 12,000-mile McLaren is going for the price of a lightly optioned 911, the proposition starts to seem too good to be true.
